A couple of New England nonprofit groups and four teenage plaintiffs brought a suit with Our Children's Trust seeking to get Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to implement stronger and more expansive regulations on greenhouse gases under the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2008.
The court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, and instructed the state of Massachusetts to implement regulations that would meet greenhouse gas emissions mandates. In response, the Department of Environmental Protection revised six regulations to establish specific greenhouse gas emission limits.
